Melatonin levels decline gradually over the life-span and may be related to lowered sleep efficacy, very often associated with age, as well as to deterioration of many circadian rhythms.

Adults above age 55 are not likely to buy smart lights that can change color and brightness to aid with sleep, yet have a greater need for it.
